The Fall 2008 CTOTF Turbine Users Forum:

  • Will be held on September 14 - 18, at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort,  Tucson, AZ.
  • The General Session moderated by CTOTF ViceChair Rich Evans of NAES\Tenaska will have a panel of industry leaders addressing, discussing and answering questions regarding "Succession Planning."
  • Generic Issues Roundtable headed up by Chairman Jack Borsch of Reliant Energy and ViceChair Mike Rutledge of SRP, have lined up presentations by CleanOil and Fluid Assets, industry oil experts, to address lube oil issues affecting CT operability.
  • Legacy Units Roundtable will have User presentations describing, a "Life Extension Project for a GE Frame 7B," a "GE Mark VI Control System Installation on a GE 7B Unit," a "Users' Experiences Returning Retired Units Back to Service."  Chairman Steve Hedge of NRG and ViceChair Eddie Mims of Colectric Partners have also scheduled lots of time for "User-To-User Q&A."
  • LM-6000 Roundtable Chairman Frank DeRiso of nationalgrid and ViceChair Tom Sparkman of Western Farmers has assembled an agenda which includes a presentation by SatinAmerica regarding breaker repairs, PM's and the dangers of racking in and out of breakers as well time for "User-To-User Q&A."
  • Siemens Roundtable, Chaired by Ray Martens of Iberdrola Renewables, to have User experiences presentation on "501F Row-1 Blade Cracking." Also scheduled for the AM will be a "User-To-User Q&A" session moderated by ViceChair Pierre Boehler of Mirant Corp. The afternoon will be dedicated to hosting the OEM where Siemens will be addressing such topics as:
  •  Overhaul Crew Shortages, Shop Backlogs
  •  Engineering Response Times
  •  Spring Outage Season Safety Record
  •  Update on Rotor Life
  •  Compressor Component Issues
  •  Workscopes at Major Overhaul Intervals,
  •  Low CO turndown Options
  •  501F Row-1 Blade Platform & Radius Cracking
  •  T3000 Capabilities/NERC Cyber Security Compliance
  • FT-8 Roundtable headed up by Chairman Ray deBerge of AmerenUE and ViceChair Bill Clark of Constellation Energy, have assembled a program to include, user presentations from Constellation Energy on experience with a generator exciter failure and Fuel Plate Heating experience by MMPA.
  • Generator Roundtable, Chaired by Jack Borsch of Reliant Energy and Ed Sundheim of NAEA have assembled a program which includes presentations by Wood Group, National Electric Coil and Brush, covering topics such as generator testing, QA/QC requirements for OEM and Non-OEM maintenance and repair facilities along with a panel discussion to include User Q&A.
  • ZLD & Environmental Roundtable led by Chairman Scott Takinen and Frank Perkins both of Arizona Public Service, will be addressing Air Permits - semi annual reporting and the importance of pH control.
  • GE Roundtable will focus on capacity enhancements: "Teaching Old (And Not-So-Old) Dogs New Tricks." Led by Larry Rose of Dominion Energy, this Users only Roundtable will be stepping through the various major component sections of the GT with "User-to-User Q&A" discussions accompanied by User and Vendor presentations. Areas of concentration to include:
    •  7FA Inlet Chilling
    •  7EA Wet Compression
    •  7FA Fogging
    •  Recently Issued TILs
    •  7FA Compressor OEM Expected Changes
    •  DLN Lean Blowout Event in Florida
    •  ... And More

The Fall 2008 CTOTF Trade Show & Vendor Fair:

  • Will be held from 5 - 9PM, on September 17, in the Turquoise Ballroom of the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort, Tucson, AZ.

The COMBINED CYCLE Journal 2009 BEST PRACTICES Awards:

Four categories of Best Practices will be featured:

  • Management,
  • Operation and Maintenance,
  • Environmental and
  • Safety.

Winners will be recognized at the CTOTF Spring Turbine Users Forum with awards being presented during the Awards Luncheon Monday (4/20/09).
